LAND A BIG FISH IN DEVILS TOWER COUNTRY!

Prime fishing exists throughout Devils Tower Country. The opportunities are as broad as your sense of adventure and your willingness to explore and pack a fishing pole. With that said, we want to share a few of our favorite opportunities to land “a big one” here in Devils Tower Country.

Cook Lake Recreation Area, located in the Bearlodge National Forest, is stocked with trout, catfish and sunfish. Four miles of trails also surround the lake, providing a great spot of hiking and bicycling. Visit the Cook Lake Recreation Area page provided by the National Forest Service for more complete and up-to-date information.

Sand Creek, located south of Interstate 90 near Beulah, Wyoming, is an often overlooked fisherman’s paradise. According to the Wyoming Game and Fish, “Whether you enjoy fishing for wild brown trout, hearing the gobble of strutting wild turkeys, or viewing a white-tailed doe and her fawns at dusk or daylight, Sand Creek Wildlife Habitat and Access Management Area has something to offer you.”

Keyhole Reservoir offers a very different, yet equally enjoyable, kind of fishing. Keyhole is known for its population of trophy-sized northern pike but is also home to walleye and crappie.

Keyhole State Park surrounds the reservoir. Beyond fishing, the area is a popular destination for camping, swimming, hiking, boating, water skiing and bird watching. Visitors to the area can obtain supplies in the nearby community of Pine Haven and at the Keyhole Marina. The marina is also the perfect place to get the latest fishing tips, or to rent a boat for your excursion.

Ice fishing is also popular at Keyhole Reservoir. Park managers regularly update ice conditions on their Facebook page, allowing anglers to know when it’s a good time to visit the lake.

Find out why the fishing is so special at Wyoming’s Sand Creek. Sand Creek is part of the WGFD’s X-Stream Angler Program.

Northern pike are a fish that likes to fight. Keyhole Reservoir in Devils Tower Country is a popular destination among anglers who pursue the fish.
